Sad News lately!

Lets start with all my sad news and then the nice news.
My sister has a tumor in her neck and it has caused her losing the use of her
hand and now its growing down to the lungs and ribs.
I am still recovering from a vertigo virus (Middle ear infection) and
also had a anxiety attack, at the end of August and the dr said it
will take a long time to go away. I have now started driving again after
2 months and its just great, we do live in a small town and traffic
is not very busy. Its much better now but still around, sometimes
the dizzyness is still bad but I am at  home and can go and rest
when it gets too bad.
My Mom was in hospital for a check up of her heart and while she was
there my stepfather had a stroke while visiting her. He was also in the same hospital
for a few days. He is okay and at home, but sadly he has demensia.
But the sad news is that my Mom passed
away on the 7th October, 2011. I was lucky to be there to say goodbye although
she was not able to talk to me, because she went into a semi coma by the time I got
to her because we had to fly up to Johannesburg and our plane was delayed by
4 hours because of a huge thunderstorm.
She did hold my hand and also had tears coming out of her eyes which were closed by then.
My son was in accident, car a wrote off, but on the bright
side he was not hurt at all.
Well I did not just hang around, I got busy and started a hexagon throw because I was able to
crochet a bit with my eyes being a bit out of focus and have now completed 252 hexigons and made
them into 36 large hexigons which I am now going to join but have run out of black wool and nothing
available in this small town. I have also slowly been embroidering but have nothing to show yet. Also this last week
I did some of my crazy blocks basics again. Well I have been recovering from all my problems and have
been so lucky to have the support of my wonderful hubby and kids. So Thank You Lord for all the Loved Ones
in my life and also all my family and friends.

The Quilt Show in Stellenbosch and my projects

Went to the Quilt Show in Stellenbosch yesterday and it was one of those special days for me, everything quilts quilts and more quilts. There were quilts made in every way one could think of, machine quilting hand quilting even some lovely art quilts. Well of course there were the vendors too. Just love them and am so thankful that they also have stalls there with all the supplies that us quilters need as we, now those that live far from large cities, have to always get fabrics over the post. Thank you to all of you and also all the designers who also supply us with lots of inspiration and also free patterns.

This is the back of a mini quilt I made for a swap in USA

Front of mini quilt.

This is a Row by Row wallhanging and my second choice with the log cabin swapped around

This is the version that I prefer with the turquiose at the bottom

Just thoughts for the week!!!!!

Well I have been thinking:

I need to get some projects going again, but
and here is always a but, I have to make
tea for the bowling club again. Now coming
to mind that I have always thought (incorrect)
that being a tea girl job would just suit me fine,
and since being in the kitchen of the bowling club
I have found that tea making is no easy job.
Now I am being punished with this hard boring job
(which I am doing willingly to help the club) which
reminds me of the movie "Tooth Fairy". So I have
two days of tea making for 60 persons and am doing
it with a smile, tea girls always have smiles on their
faces and most of the time I dont even know the persons.
hehehehehe

Well I also need to get some projects completed for our
Quilt Show at the end of August, you'll ask why so long
before, well making all these lovely items is not something
ones makes in a few hours, some of the items take a month or
longer, even had a quilt take me three years to complete just the
hand quilting. Which of course was very rewarding when done, as
a job well done. I am sure lots of you know that feeling, no matter
how tired one gets of that item one needs to complete the journey
started.

But in the meantime its back to being a tea girl and this one needs
some delicious hot coffee now.

Hugs and take care and have a blessed week.

This is now another orphan to join the family, and its is still alive now after a week with
the kids and Skye the new kitty just loves it. Matts is very happy
