Another finish!!!!

I have now completed this pillow cover for my sewing room. It was a fun project that was done with 2 other friends just starting to learn free style embroidery. They are really having fun and also is an inspiration to me. I have sharing all my embroidery knowledge with them. They seem to enjoy it!!!

Beading Sunflower busy!!!

I have had this, finished sunflower embroidery, completed a long time ago. But have always wanted to add something more instead of the usual frame. Well got the inspiration going and also all the beading. After starting on a different path, this sunflower told me that I need to do something else and now the sunflower is very happy with what I have done so far. This took me all day today, every bead is sewn on one by one, and I think it looks great. Will show when totally completed.

Busy Busy and a surprise!!!!!

Christmas decorations are now up and this is what it looks like
before the lights are switched on.
Here I have started with the embroidery after joining the blocks together into rows and now joined 2 rows
I will be doing two by two and then join with the centre row.

Well I am a very sentimental person and this proves it.
We received a lovely set of different crystal glasses from my Mom
and slowly over the years they have broken out and this is the last one
left. Well I could not throw this one away and strange enough they all
seemed to break just under the round of the glass.
There is a lovely crystal ball just above the foot of the glass.
So looking at it I turned the foot upside down and there we
are I have my very own crystal ball in a nice snow bubble.
Now I have preserved this piece of history for many years to come.

Here you can see my crystal ball when the sprinklers have settled down.

Okay here is what everyone has been waiting to see. Here I have
laid out all 25 blocks of the crazy quilt and as you can see
they are not arranged the way I wanted. But be assured I will
be posting this when completed.

All done, 10kg apricots into jam. I get apricots yearly and have to make
into jam because the bought ones are not so tasty and also lot less
sugar and no preservatives in. This will last us about a year.

My country living!!!

We have a huge problem here in South Africa,
Lots of elders are being murdered
and someone decided to do something about it
in using a protest march and it was
decided that to do the march on an old holiday
that was removed from our calender by the new
failing government. It is
named Red October and will
be a unofficial holiday in future!
I was not able to attend and
after starting the day with a down feeling,
I saw the postings coming in from fb and they all
used red balloons and red t shirts I got my inspiration
to complete with this little banner.

This is what I have been working on and its was
not easy working from a picture and
trying to get it look right.
Well after a lots of undoing I achieved this.

A bit more seams done

This is a very special flower for me, its
the beautiful violets, not those we know as african violets
but the ones that Louis Leipoldt wrote in his poems
of this area, these are what the real traditional
ones look like and I just love the colors in this
color chart and had to make new curtian for my
guest toilet. Well its a bit dark now but hardly
gets used and I like it anyway. Still have to crochet
the toilet cover.

We spend another day in the veld around this area and there
are always lovely flowers to see. The yellow is the "waboom" protea
and the lovely red ones I have no idea what their name is.

These are (not sure how to spell these) tjienkeretjies in
our garden that are now flowering
and they are around our small piece of lawn in our garden
and hubby has been pampering them so that they
become more and make a lovely border.

Embroidery and and busy!!!

Have been very busy these past few days.
I have now started my stashbag for all my wool that I am using for a project and this bag will have to have a lining otherwise I will loose all my crochet hooks.
Embroidery inspiration has also struck home and am now busy trying to get some more blocks done. These pieces have come out very nice and even got a border or two done today. I have added some beads to my gloves and now they look really great to me. Very antique-ish.
