At last! Embroidery

Wow I have finished 40 blocks and can do the embroidery at last. Hoping it will look great. I am going to make a double bed quilt. Not sure the 40 blocks will be enough but will make more if needed without buying fabric.

A sad goodbye!!!!!!!

Had to say goodbye to this sweet cat Tonic yesterday. She was 17 yrs old and was a very loving cat. She shared to much ups and downs with us.
Now back to daily life, hehehehe!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      I need to remember to add hashtags to all my posting to show who had inspired my projects. I want to show respect to the designers whom show us their wonderful designs and also allow us to use it. I only use all the items I make for myself and no selling here. It takes too much time to make and people don't really want to pay for all the work that goes into handcrafts. Well I can't afford all the lovely designs I see. Have bought a few patterns and also many quilt mags though. But somehow I just start following the chosen pattern and then change the whole thing to my tastes and continue from there my own style. But one has to have good manners and give thanks to the designers of the original patterns.

This is a project I started and its such fun.

I worked out the templets myself and then made them. Let me see its from

  https://www.instagram.com/vintagesewingbox

She has some great designs and I love all the pretty things she makes.

Also the threads I am using is from House of Embroidery.

I am also using a combination of  Da Gama Three Cats fabrics and lots of fabrics that have been gifted and in my stash.

Hope I have done this correct!!!!!

Have a wonderful day!

A bit of stitching

I have been working on getting some UFO's done this past year. Well am trying to keep busy and have fun stitching these peg bags always makes me smile. They have such cute faces.

q

Saw some embroidery with shells on instagram, sorry can't remember who, but it got me thinking l can use any broken shell. Picked up a few on the beach the other day. So tried it and its so beautiful. Still want to add some more beads. Seems my mind has been working overtime to get this to work.

Busy as always, happily stitching away!!!

We have had a busy week and just love having the kids around and looking after Neil is great fun. He is growing up so quickly and luckily we have had the honour of being part of his life. We have not been able to live near either of our kids and grandkids and now we are, thankful to our daughter for wanting us nearer to her.

I have been busy this past week and got a few things done.
I crocheted these tops a year ago and just had to put them to use now that I have my red and white quilt on our bed.

I need a new apron to match my kitchen and scratch this fabric out of my stash. I really needed one as I seem to get flour all over the front of my clothes.

I have these tiny frames just hanging around in my sewing room. I felt like having some nice embroidery pieces in them using my House of embroidery threads. . Just love the colors of their threads.
I also want to get another three of these done.

Daily life and fun stuff in the making

Morning all
I have been following this blog for some time now and really enjoy having some thoughts on what home is really like and this is it for me too. So if you are interested here is the link: (Hope it works)

http://www.elefantz.com/2019/05/practical-domesticity.html

My feeling today about this post is that I enjoy seeing our washed clothes on the washing line and then when dry the clean smell of sunshine and then bring it into the house and the whole house smells so sunny. Also love to see a nice bright colored washed completed quilt hanging on the line. Last not least a nice fresh slice of bread that Hubby baked with the smell drifting through the whole house and then share half with the kids, whom live near us and just love the homemade bread to as they say shop bread.

Now onto my sewing, I am trying to finish some older projects that I started some time ago. Getting this beading done is taking forever as each one is stitched seperately, but I love having something other than stitching to work on.

Still working on this project and hope to finish it this week and add it to my already embroidered sunflowers.

Wow still embroidering!!!

Wow still embroidering slowly but surely. It is very hot here and temps are over the 40*C daily here and its is a bit warm under all this fabric on my lap.
I am trying to work something in the mornings. Hubby and I were chatting this morning how just more and more ideas of embroidery possibilities are still coming in my head for the finishing of the crazy quilt. I have decided that I did not want the separate blocks to show but will embroider over them to have a nice overall crazy quilt. Here is what I am doing. Using some of the embroidery that I did on the blocks and taking it further over the other blocks to form a nice overall flow.

Here is where I have added more of the same embroidery
over the seams to have a continues flow of
embroidery and not block by block

Here I joined the blocks with a lovely bright green leave and
shades of pink french knots. The leaves came out great.
I did a long stitch and then went over that with a chain stitch
and then using the weaving technique I wove these lovely leaves
through all three legs.
uhm thinking I will have to make some more of these in the rest of the
quilt as it was so nice and easy and also fun to see that the leaves
did not all turn out to be exactly the same.

Here the 4 seams come together just to show that
I am now embroidering on the seams after joining
my blocks together

Joining at the new seams

Last but not least, at last I have now wrapped all
the Christmas gifts and just hoping the grandsons will
enjoy them.

Lots done today!!!!!

I have been very busy today and did quite a bit of things around the house. Been working on getting these dolls dressed before winter, which seems it is never going to come.
I even burnt my fingers when thinking of other stuff and not concentrating on taking a roasted chicken out of the oven. hehehehe
I also got to help a friend that wants to get to know how to work a computer and that is very interesting
because then I also have to think about it too. We do not have any training institution around here. So its a case of helping each other.

Got all these sets finished
today
Two dolls left
to keep me company

Ready to be dressed

Hubby's parents photo is

Wow days are running away!

Well time goes by so quickly l have been so busy lately. Its winter school holidays and nearly over and it just flew by the grandson goes ba...
