Very Blessed and Thankful!

Have not posted here for a while. Reading a post today made me realise that l prefer blogging to being on fb. So here goes!
First photo is Hubby supervising the baking of Christmas cookies.
Next is Neil our youngest grandson with the Christmas tree and when he switched on the lights, he bumped the tree over. But seeing the enjoyment he got from the lights was so special to us.
Third is the first hibiscus being planted in our garden. We have now finished inside and have started changing the outside.
We are so thankful that our daughter lives nearby and keeps us busy with the grandkids around here daily!

Have now started the garden. We don't have a front gate that leads directly to the front door. Just have the big gate for the car. Now have to do something with the path and here is the start.

Havin fun in the mud!!!

Neil is enjoying a late morning mud game. Enjoyed this so much that it made me wish I was a small kid again. hehehehe I was not allowed to play in the mud. We were little girls and girls did not ever get dirty. This seems to be a boy game and Neil had lots of fun as you can see.

A finish and a start!!!!!

Finished tiling my craft room floor and now to get everything in a nice place and tidy up the whole area. Which is taking some time as I am sorting thru all my stuff .

Today is the start of the quilting of a new quilt for my bed. I have named this my Sentiscrap quilt because the blocks are all from my fabric collection over the years and have lots of meaning to me. Some have been gifted and some have been bought by myself. So putting it together sentimental and scrap pieces gives it a nice name. Just love naming my quilts. I am using black crochet cotton nr 5 and also have bought some thin tape and it works just great to help me keep my quilting stitch lines straight. Just love new goodies!!!!!

Life in Port Alfred

Well have not been around here much so sorry!! We have been a bit busy with finishing up my craft room floor and spending time with Neil. It terrible to think we live so close to the sea and don't visit her often enough. We decided to take Neil and the dogs, Lucky and Coco, for a nice walk along the beach. The dogs were in the water more than Neil, but he has not been well these past few days with ear infection. Will post picture when my craft room is all ready for me to enjoy. Its the first time I have this whole huge area for a craft room. I feel very privileged and although it does not have designer units in it is very special to me. I hope to spend many happy hours in it stitching.

Another fun project!!!

I just love having a blackboard in my kitchen to jot down whatever groceries I need to get when going to the shops. Well I made my own one. I used Granny B's red paint and I now have a redboard. I also used an old frame that was bought many years ago, while visiting my Mom, and repainted it to match my kitchen cupboards. All those decor items are such fun and will be changing them from time to time.                                                                                                                                                      I have also been busy painting the inside of all the built in cupboards, which have not been painted since they were installed which was 30 yrs ago when this house was built. Also need to remove the previous owners smells.  Its such a boring job but it need to be done. Well I have finished the one and halfway with the other bedroom cupboard. Then our built in cupboards also need to be finished in and outside.

Some stitching projects done!!

I have been so busy with all the small finishing touches to the house and have now had some time to do some stitching again. Well l decided to cover these chair cushions that have been coverless for a while now. Just love the new shwe shwe fabric colorways and seeing as my craft room is not on the sunny side of the house I decided to use the reds. Made the curtains and then decided to cover the cushions in red in a different print. Well its came out very nice and now l have decided to paint the wood in a red color with Granny B paints. Well before anyone says one does not paint wood, these are old chairs and not so solid anymore but still work for extra seating in my sewing room. They have been through floods and have been used very rough by kids and me and pets.So after all their hard lives they now need a new lease in life with a bit of pampering in color. Had fun stitching these covers. First it seems that I forgot how to put in a zip the proper way and when I got to the last cover I had remembered how to and that got me laughing as I have put in many zips over the years and here after not sewing in a while I just could not put in a zip the proper way. Well at least its now done and they look great already.

Hubby and Matthew have started putting up the fencing to have a bit of privacy from neighbours and its looking so nice. Have noticed here in Port Alfred you dont use iron anything because of the rust. So we decided on this fencing and it looks great.

Have been working on a scrappy memory quilt for our bed and have decided to use all the lovely fabrics I have collected over the years and have cut just squares and joined them into a very basic block quilt. While cutting the blocks and going thru my fabrics, I can remember the history of most of my fabrics, so I will name this my scrappy memory quilt. Will post a picture of the quilt top when done!
Well we went to Port Elizabeth on Friday for the first time since we relocated here and it was to buy some tiles and stuff a bit well a whole lot cheaper than in a small town like ours. I am really so over travelling all over the country that I am in no mood to travel any distance further the the mall or to town. So this week will be tiling week again but then its the last on our list of tiling and its my craft room that gets tiled at last.

We have a park across the road and its all nice and green and also have these huge Coral trees growing and are now flowering so here are they with Hubby to show the size of these trees. There are quite a few of these parks around in Port Alfred and its so nice to have all this nature around us.
