Heat and more heat.

We are having a heat wave at the moment and am hoping for the
weather too cool down soon. Have the aircon going but we also
have lots of power failures. So at the moment I am just stitching
small stuff because I have not strength to do any thinking.
But have lots of things running in my mind.
Take care and hugs.

Heat and more heat.

A cute meerkat named Queeny!!!

Here is a very very tame
meerkat that goes by the name of
Queeny and she lives at a
place called Monteiro just outside
of Windhoek.

Here she has come to check out
what is going on at her swimming pool

Just checking to see if Matthew
our grandson is not near as she
does not like kids anymore because
so kids ruffled her a few weeks earlier
so now she does not want kids near.

Just checking out the skies for
foreign creatures that could
be spies.
Well when her work in complete
she sure does need a great rub
from a big caring hand.
Now all is done and a quick nap in
my arms is just the right thing to do.
The next afternoon I was having a short nap
and heard some funny noise next to me,
it was Queeny lying on her back wanting
me to scratch her again a bit.
Well sadly we left the Thursday morning.
Home now and am trying to get back to normal
if I can find out what is normal. heheheheh

Windhoek MOB

I had the pleasure of meeting a few
bloggers at 24.com living in Windhoek. They are such fun
to be with and we chatted for ages.

Meeting!!!

I attended the Potpouri group meeting at the Afrokaan
today to see what they have been working on as I have
not been there for some time. They are working on a
banner for the group.
We chatted for a while and then had some lovely choc cake,
which was so nice and
tasty and a hot cuppa coffee. Real coffee.
I also bought a lovely spinach quiche for lunch
and a piece of juicy biltong for hubby.
Cant just buy fabric for me have to spoil him,
er, or is it just to stop feeling guilty for
spending money on myself!!!!! hehehe
The biltong was well received and
when tasted the comment went like this
" nice piece of fat, not too dry and tasty too". He enjoyed it very much.
Be sure to visit this lovely shop in Graafwater next time you are on the
West Coast, even if it is just to buy some of that biltong.

Had a great holiday.

This was a long trip of 2400km
and took us two days to complete
we slept over in Windhoek and
then arrived safely in a small
check point named Kongola and there
Natascha and family waited for us.
This is a picture of the scenery
taken just outside of Otavi on the
way to Grootfontein.

After arriving at Kongolo we went
to Susuwe Lodge over the Kwando
river by boat and then to the lodge.
It looks much nicer than on the
pictures. Had some tea and then went
to Natascha's house. And here is
Hubby standing on the deck outside
with the Boabab tree that shades
the house.
This is what the Boabab tree
seed pods look like and when they
fall it does make a hole in the deck.
They are massive and heavy, but sadly
not even the elephants eat it.
Here is Matthew feeding the birds
and squirrels which live in the trees.

This is a genet that lives in the trees
and comes down at night and nudges against
the window pane of the door for food.

To be continued.

Just things!!!

New tenants have just moved in.
We have this lovely thorn tree
growing outside our bedroom window.
Now we have the first bird nest which was built
this morning.

I decided to help the poor guy to make
his nest cosy and cut some batting in thin strips
and put them out for him.
Made sure he saw them and here he
is collecting them. if you look carefully you can see him in the centre of the ground patch as I dont know how to enlarge it to see him better. When there was none
left he cheekily tjurped for more, so I cut
some more and now late this afternoon they
are happily settled in the nest.

Just!!!

Just a short note so say that I wont be around
for a few weeks. We are going to visit our
daughter and the internet is very bad there.
Take care to all. Happy stitching.

New!!!

This is what I did this afternoon
after seeing this lovely BOM
on gailpandesigns and just had to start
this. I also received some wonderful red
fabric from a friend at the Australian
Threads magazine forum. It just seem
to come at the right time for this fabric.

Jane Austen!!

I am reading my first Jane Austen book
Emma, but I have to use a dictionary, not just
any one as the newer ones dont seem to have
a lot of the words, which of course don't get used
nowadays, in them. It is so funny as the dictionary
is much bigger than my book. But it is very
challenging for me to read with all those
old fashioned ways of saying things in very old
English. But am enjoying it a lot.

Wow days are running away!

Well time goes by so quickly l have been so busy lately. Its winter school holidays and nearly over and it just flew by the grandson goes ba...
