Well have had two busy days. Yesterday I made some pumpkin fritters for the 2nd time in my life as the first time was very oily fritters but today seems to be a success. I have also baked some rusks for hubby.Today I have at last done some painting. I have finished my bedroom and it looks so nice and clean and bright again. Paint seems to fade with time and the last time it was painted was in 1999. Another thing off my to do list. I have also caught up with my stitchery with the Chicks group and have made up my mind not to do the star patchwork but I am learning a whole lot of techniques to make things easier for me. Especially the pointed stars. I am going to continue with my Christmas quilt as it stilll needs to have a lot of trimmings on before I can say its finished and then there is my angel quilt. I have to get that finished for next winter and it takes a whole winter to do the quilting. I have to still do the sashings. That will be patchwork paper piecing. Enough for the to do list I better start getting some small ufo's done and then there is a lovely stitchery in the new Australian Country Threads magazine too do.

I seem no have an addiction to sewing and am enjoying it a lot.

Keep stitching is my motto and thank you Lord for being able to have all this fun with my talent.

This is a picture of the old house when we first moved in and had it painted and then the picture of how it looks now with a fence that we had made ourselves. It took long but looks great and looking now it does not look like a jail. We need security and lots of it in this country. There is also a bit of the Cederberg mountain range at the back. We have worked hard here and am enjoying the garden very much as we have tried to have a waterwise garden.

We are having a lovely sunny day here and am trying to get the washing done as the weatherman says it will be raining next week.

Friends have been and now all I have is dirty linen. It was great to see them after 3 years and we had a lovely visit. I now have to wash the linen but the weather is not very pleasant and warm. I have to get into working mode now and get all my sewing projects done.

I have the winter quilt that I have been working on today and which is almost done.

I will finish it tomorrow. Then I need to finish my stitchery by Thursday.

Being relocated to another town always seems to be very traumatic for some people and they seem to be unable to adjust to the new life. We have relocated a few times and am now retired and plan to stay here for the rest of our lives. Sometimes it is very heart breaking to leave dear friends behind, but I somehow find that that changes over time and a person starts getting excited at the propect of gaining more friends and not losing old friends but make sure you keep in contact with the old.

It seems that the kids are also very well adjusted to change and they dont seem to have any problems. I think it helped them to be more open to interact with people more easily. I used to love the challenge to get some new friends along the way and I still have lots of old friends around and keep in contact with a telephone and the telephone bill is proof of it. Hubby is forever moaning about the high account. But I just love to hear a friends voice over the telephone.

Now we are here to stay. I have lots of friends quilting and non quilting and they are all wonderful people and make life in the country very interesting.

Where does time go?

It seems to me that time just goes by and I have so much to do. I have to get my winter quilt done and am having a shortage of ideas and feel very uninspired to continue with it, but I am determined to get it finished. Maybe lots more beads on the bottom of the words. I am also going to put lots more snowflakes all around the letters. That should do the trick to fill it up with lots of beads.
My day has been slow and the bedding for the visitors has not dried so it is hanging all over the place, hopefully it will be dry then.Going to the Potpouri quilting meeting tomorrow and will see what is going on there for a change as I have been absent for 2 weeks now. They are learning to make all different stars to join later for a quilt.

Friends are what we all need

Thankful for all the friends we have as they make a huge difference to our daily lives.
I have tracked a penfriend that I had been writing to for 11 years and it is just great that we were able to get back on track again.
We also have old friends of ours for a visit this week. It is so great to have friends around.
It makes me realize that I do need friends in different areas of my life.
I have quilting friends.
Family friends.
Braai and visit friends
Tea friends.
Also have to mention my neighbours. They are great people and we sometimes dont realize how valuable they are until we need them or moved from the neighbourhood.
Friends wonderful friends.

Being a grandmother is great

This is the most gorgous men in the universe. I think all grandparents feel the same way.

Let me introduce them top: The eldest and big brother Benjamin holding baby Liam.

Then there is Matthew.

They are all so different and special to us.

We are so thankful for being able to have grandchildren.

just thoughts

We have been away on a short holiday and now I am trying to get back into routine. I have a bad cold and also seem to be a bit uninspired at the moment, maybe I am missing our daughter and grandson that was here for a visit.
Will be posting pictures of the grandsons tomorrow.
We now have winter here and it is cold at night. Used my hotwater bottle last night and it had a tear in so the bed at my feet was a bit wet. Not much though as I checked to see if it was leaking. will have to get a new one. They work great for me.
Have to get some sleep as I have a lot of work tomorrow.
I have to finish my wallhanging for the Potpouri group for Wednesday and then also finish the embroidery on my stitchery for the Chicks for Thursday. I am the convenor and it is expected of me to be ahead of the others. Maybe they will forgive me for not being finished.

I have found this site to be very easy to download pictures and am going to use this for my quilting pictures.
I have been very busy lately and unable to put my quilting pictures in but will do so everyday. As you can see we love cats and also enjoy their company. The oldest Blackie is very difficult at times and also very demanding. It is amazing that she has survived that long and we love her very much. She used to be a pitch black cat and is now very grey. The other cats leave her alone as she is an elder and there seems to be some sort of decending line here. Blackie controls the others then Thandor watches over his sister Chichi he also chases Tonic the newest member of the family to the room she prefers. She then seems to target Chichi as she is the smallest and the wildest. Thandor is my hubby's favorite and they seem to have formed a bond. They even seem to chat to each other.
She loves to sleep in my quilting things and just has a look now and then to see if everything is still around. This is Tonic.

Wow days are running away!

Well time goes by so quickly l have been so busy lately. Its winter school holidays and nearly over and it just flew by the grandson goes ba...
